If you are buying a house that will cost you anything between R2.5 and R6 crore, it is understandable you’d expect the developer to answer all your questions and doubts.

Mayawati’s rural housing schemes to return as Lohia Awas Yojna

Lucknow: After scrapping the Mahamaya Awas Yojna and Mahamaya Sarvajan Awas Yojna of the previous BSP government, the Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to launch a single housing scheme for the rural poor, named Lohia Awas Yojna.

Both abolished schemes were launched by former chief minister Mayawati in 2008-09 on the lines of the Centre’s Indira Awas Yojna. Under both schemes, a beneficiary had been given Rs 45,000 as financial assistance to build a pucca shelter.

Govt should stay off land acquisition for pvt projects: Panel

New Delhi: A parliamentary panel has sought to put strict safeguards on the government’s powers to acquire land and recommended that no plot under cultivation be taken away unless as a last resort.

The recommendation — one of many on the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2011 — seeks to give a legup to food security, but if accepted, could pose a challenge to the expansion of industries.

Noida-based Supertech launches first housing project in Gurgaon

New Delhi: Noida-based developer Supertech has signed a joint development agreement with land aggregation company GTL for 11 acres of land in Gurgaon’s sector 79.

The land has all permissions required for building a residential group housing project for which a minimum of 10 acres is required in under Gurgaon rules.

Govt mulls denotification of land in NW Delhi villages

New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to denotify 500 acres of land,which it had acquired from 1000-odd farmers to develop a housing project. The land was notified in 2006 and a portion of the first phase of the Narela project was supposed to come up there. However, the government failed to award the special rehabilitation package of nearly Rs 100 crore to the farmers, forcing them to rise up in protest. Coming soon: Affordable housing policy for all

In two months, India could have a brand new affordable housing policy, an effort to give some boost to a weakening real estate sector.

Land Scam: I-T dept attaches chhole vendor’s properties

New Delhi: Almost after five years since the multi-crore land scam involving MCD and DDA officials came to light, the Income Tax (I-T) department has attached five properties of the scam’s alleged kingpin — the chhole-bhature vendor-turnedmillionaire Ashok Malhotra.

DDA taking measures to repair cracks in Dwarka flats

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority is taking measures to repair the cracks that have developed in several of its flats in Dwarka’s sector 13.

Noida farmhouse scheme under UP govt scanner

Noida: Following allegations of a major farmhouse scam in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav, has ordered an investigation into the scheme launched by the Noida Authority in 2009. In a letter addressed to the Noida Authority chairman Rakesh Bahadur,  the government has directed him to submit a report within a week.The report will deal mainly on three important points land acquisition, allotment rate and the procedure of allotment of the farms.
