Metro director handling key Phase III projects resigns

Posted on April 19, 2012 by Deepti

New Delhi: In a sudden move, Delhi Metro Rail Corporations director (project & planning), Kumar Keshav, is learnt to have submitted his resignation to the managing director, Mangu Singh, on Wednesday. Though there was no official word on this, sources confirmed the resignation, saying that it was yet to be officially accepted. A board meeting is expected to take place in the next two days where a decision will be taken.
Keshav could not be contacted despite repeated efforts. Sources said he had been on leave on Monday and Tuesday but had rejoined office in the later half of Wednesday. He is handling key projects in the ambitious Phase III,and if his resignation takes its course,DMRC will have to do some quick firefighting.
Barricades are coming up all over the city for a massive expansion thrust by Metro, not only in the capital but also in NCR areas like Faridabad. Timelines are tight and MD Mangu Singh recently called for quick and timely execution of the projects to cause minimum inconvenience to people.
One doesnt know the reason for Keshav taking this step and his resignation may yet be rejected but this is the first serious crisis DMRC is facing after the departure of the larger-thanlife E Sreedharan.
He was appointed to the post of director (project and planning) in December 2009, after his predecessor, Vijay Anand, was repatriated to Indian Railways following the Zamrudpur pillar collapse. He belongs to the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) and joined DMRC in May 2002.   Source>>>
