Delhi govt calls for bids to develop industrial areas

Posted on December 18, 2011 by Deepti

New Delhi: Taking another step towards improving basic infrastructure and amenities in its industrial areas, the Delhi government has called for bids to maintain these estates under public private partnership model.

Industries minister Ramakant Goswami said the bids have been called for Narela, Bawana, Okhla and Patparganj industrial areas. “The project will be given on build-operate-transfer system. The concessionaires will redevelop the estates in two years and maintain it during the concession period,“ he said.

According to Delhi State Industries and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) officials, a consultant was appointed by the industries department for infrastructure mapping, gap assessment, identifying various projects on PPP mode and undertaking the bid process management to select the private sector players.

“The bids have been called on the basis of the consultant’s feasibility report,“ Goswami said.

DSIIDC chairman and managing director Chetan Sanghi said the concessionaire will be entitled to collect maintenance charges from individual industries at the rate of R10 per sq m per month and annuity from DSIIDC after completion of development work.

“The DSIIDC has already awarded the work for two projects in Narela and Bawana for annuity of R21.5 crores and R7.48 crores respectively,“ he added.  Source>>>
