Wannabe buyers line up at CWG village

New Delhi: Ever since the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) announced the auction of flats at the Commonwealth Games Village, their phone has been ringing off the hook. On Monday, many prospective buyers even thronged the village to get a first hand look at the state-of-the-art flats. The DDA will auction 110 flats, the reserve price for which range between Rs. 2.5 and Rs. 5.8 crore, at the CWG Village.

Spread over 27 acres, the Commonwealth Games Village has 34 residential towers with 1,168 flats. DDA, which has more than 700 flats in its name, wants to auction 110 flats first to get an idea about the market price for these flats.

DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar said that many interested buyers were enquiring about the tendering process of the flats. This is the first time ever that the DDA will be selling flats through auction. Usually, flats offered by DDA are allotted through a computerised draw of lots. This time, the 110 flats will be put on the block and the highest bidder will get the flat of his or her choice.

DDA is offering two to five bedroom flats ranging from 1,443 square feet to 3,405 square feet. The reserve price of these flats, all of which would be given on freehold basis, has been kept at Rs. 1,85, 195 per square metre.

DDA, however, clarified that the furniture in these flats would not be given to buyers. The high-end furniture was procured during the Games when foreign athletes and officials stayed at the Games village.

DDA will sell the brochure and tender documents between April 26 and May 21. The brochure and forms have been priced at Rs. 1,050, excluding VAT.  Source>>>
