‘Notify illegal colonies given provisional certificates'

Posted on June 6, 2012 by Deepti

New Delhi: Coming to the rescue of lakhs of people residing in unauthorised colonies, Delhi Urban Development Minister AK Walia said the government would soon write to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), asking it to notify colonies that were given provisional certificates.

“We want that sale and purchase should be allowed in unauthorised colonies, for which, DDA needs to notify them,” he said.

At present, registration of properties is not allowed in unauthorised colonies and properties are sold or purchased only on General Power of Attorney (GPA). However, the revenue department has imposed a ban on GPA. Because of this order, sale and purchase of properties in unauthorised colonies has come to a halt.

Not only this, those residing in these colonies are not able to carry out any construction or repair work. According to the urban development department, once a notification from the DDA is issued, people will be able to carry out renovation.

Delhi government has been trying to regularise unauthorised colonies for the past four years, but so far, not a single colony has been regularised completely, though 1,218 colonies have been issued provisional certificates.  Source>>>
